Homemade Yogurt

Servings: 8 pints

Ingredients: 

  • 1 gallon of milk
  • 1 cup dried milk powder
  • 1 cup plain/starter yogurt (make sure it has active cultures) or 1 cup from a previous batch

Instructions:

  1. Bring milk to a boil in a big pot.
  2. Whisk in milk powder and starter yogurt.
  3. Put in oven with the oven light on – you can pour into a different container if you want.
  4.  Leave in the oven for at least 6 hours - up to 12 hours.
  5. Take out when firm, cover tightly and store in refrigerator.
  6. You can use this yogurt to make the next batch.
